Safe shared mobility in every way! A new partnership begins between SWITCH – Street WITCHer, ESCO, and Mine Crime

Collaborating with a startup that produces software for optimizing fleets for shared mobility is an important maintenance company and a crime monitoring company.

Significant partnerships are underway between SWITCH – Street WITCHer, a startup that has developed a platform for city flow analysis and commute optimization, ESCO, a startup that deals with the world of micromobility and maintenance, and Mine Crime, a digital urban security observatory that collects data on crimes recorded in various Italian cities.

The goal of the collaboration is to offer citizens increasingly efficient and safe shared mobility in order to encourage its use, reducing the number of private vehicles on city streets and, consequently, traffic and pollution.

An ambitious challenge, which can only be won through predictive data analysis, which allows to anticipate user demand, to adequately distribute the vehicles, carry out regular and extraordinary maintenance interventions, to ensure safe and high-performing vehicles, and prevent (or at least limit) incidents of thefts from the shared mobility fleet.

SWITCH – Street WITCHer has developed software for the management of shared mobility fleets, based on ML/AI (Machine Learning/Artificial Intelligence) technology, which uses travel data, analyzes and takes into account local events, and the city’s characteristics to suggest the best distribution of vehicles based on the anticipated mobility demand.

This allows shared mobility companies to distribute transport means more efficiently, depending on the concentration of anticipated demand, but also, as in the AcceleraImpresa project with Roma Capitale, to optimize the positioning of electric charging stations in the city.

ESCO, which handles vehicle maintenance, will use SWITCH – Street WITCHer systems for the optimization of maintenance routes based on demand.

According to a 2023 survey by SWITCH (Customer Listening Report 2023), 15% of all negative reviews of shared mobility are related to vehicle maintenance. The collaboration between ESCO and SWITCH aims to improve this critical activity, which will lead to a better service provided by operators on one hand, while on the other hand users will have greater satisfaction and ease of use of mobility services.

Finally, Mine Crime will provide data on vehicle thefts. These will be integrated into the SWITCH – Street WITCHer platform. Variables absolutely not to be underestimated, considering how these incidents negatively impact the management of shared mobility.

For example, in Rome, between January and June 2023, a growing number of thefts were recorded, with worrying peaks starting from the last week of May. These crimes primarily involved cars, followed by bicycles and motorized two-wheeled vehicles (e.g., motorcycles, scooters, etc.). The most frequently stolen cars are Italian ones, such as FIAT, LANCIA, ALFA ROMEO, followed by German models and, finally, French ones.

In the same period, a similar situation occurred in Turin, albeit more fluctuating. Here, the increase in thefts was recorded in mid-February, then began to rise again from the second half of April onwards. In this city, the most stolen vehicles are two-wheelers (bicycles and motorcycles/scooters), particularly Honda models (primarily SH) followed by Italian ones (Piaggio Liberty, Scarabeo, Vespa, etc.).

“The collaboration with these two significant entities allows us to offer a service that provides even greater support for managing urban mobility. – Comments Matteo Forte, CEO of SWITCH – Street WITCHer – A synergy that allows citizens to accompany the transition that is making cities increasingly smart, clean, and safe and, consequently, more human-friendly. Our first few weeks of collaboration are already highlighting the effectiveness of this strategy. This is particularly significant in anticipation of our imminent expansion in over 40 cities in Italy and other countries.”.
